This is a remarkable win for gorilla conservation. Western lowland gorillas like the twins are critically endangered, facing threats from disease, poaching, and habitat loss. Since 1997, we have worked to protect these magnificent creatures in the Primate Habituation Programme, a tourism and research initiative co-managed by WWF and the government of the Central African Republic. It is considered one of the most successful gorilla research programs in Central Africa. (You can see one of the twins in this video!)
